Happy New Year 2011
Zamacona has wrapped production at San Francisco Opera for 2010. However, you can see four of the operas he directed last season. The Rafael in Marin will be screening The Elixir of Love on Thursday, January 13 and Saturday the 15th. The Kabuki in San Francisco will screen La Boheme on Tuesday, January 11 and Saturday the 15th. Please check for times. If you are in Los Angeles check out Tosca at the historic Egyptian Theater at 6712 Hollywood Blvd on Sunday, January 23. Lucia di Lammermoor will be screened later this year. And, if you were in Novosibirsk, Russia in November, you could have joined 681 patrons who watched a screening of San Francisco Opera’s Madame Butterfly.
During the last week of January, Frank will be directing the yearly meeting for Chevron. This year it will originate from their corporate headquarters in San Ramon, California.

Opera and Comedy fill up Zamacona’s Slate
San Francisco Opera is presenting Aida for another spectacular live Simulcast on September 24. Frank Zamacona will direct this epic opera from the opera house to the big screen at AT&T Park. Last year over 27,000 people enjoyed their opera with hot dogs, popcorn and cracker jacks. Check out http://sfopera.com/spact/aida_att_signup.asp. It’s free! Rounding out September for Zamacona is Figaro future theatrical release.
You can also catch the television premiere of two operas Zamacona directed for the San Francisco Opera. Airing on KQED, channel 9, San Francisco will be Puccini’s, La Rondine on September 16 at 8 pm and Saint-Saens, Samson and Delilah on September 23 at 8 pm.
Zamacona will be working with Bob Ayers on the Other Café’s 30th Anniversary at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco on September 25. This is a benefit for Public television station, KQED.
Last month, Frank directed Comedy Talk, a live pilot series with some of the best comedy legends of our time. These lively discussions taped in front of live audiences featured entertaining memories and hilarious behind the scene stories with George Segal, Paul Mazursky, Ronnie Schell, Carol Channing, Rich Little, Steve Rossi, Shelly Berman, Robert Morse and Will Durst. Zamacona directed the live event and the television show at the Presentation Theater on the USF campus in San Francisco.

A Busy Summer for Zamacona
Zamacona Productions has moved to the Zaentz Media Center building in Berkeley, California. Zamacona Productions new phone number is 510-704-4011 and the fax number is 510-704-1413. The address is: Zamacona Productions, 2600 Tenth Street, Suite 302, Berkeley CA 94710.
Besides the move to new offices, Frank directed three operas for the San Francisco Opera. Die Valkeryie was shot live for the opera vision screens. Puccini’s Golden Girl of the Golden West (La Fancuilla del West) is projected for educational release, while Faust will be a theatrical release in 2011-2012. This will be Zamacona’s third year as the SF Opera’s freelance resident director.
Between operas Frank directed streaming, live corporate projects for medical group, IMPACt Inc. in New York City, Juniper Networks and Microsoft, in Silicon Valley. Da Vinci Fusion hired Zamacona to direct a multicamera shoot for the 30th Annual Auction Napa Valley. The auction raised 8.52 million for nonprofit programs throughout Napa Valley.

It’s Ballet and Opera for Zamacona
San Francisco Ballet streamed a live production to selected high schools in the Bay Area on February 17. Frank Zamacona directed The Community Matinee Program - Stage to Screen on the internet. The program, produced by the San Francisco Ballet will consist of a behind the scenes look of how a ballet comes together and performances of various works danced by the students of the San Francisco Ballet school and principal dancers of San Francisco Ballet.
The Sundance Theater in San Francisco’s Japan Town is screening four operas from the San Francisco Opera. Madama Butterfly and three other operas directed by Zamacona, will screen through March. Madama Butterfly will screen in February, Don Giovanni will screen in February and March, and Samson and Delilah and La Rondine will screen in April.
